Back in Canada, after spending a month in my beloved Galicia, I have many pictures to share with you.

Palas de Rei - Melide Winter

Palas de Rei – Melide Winter

Even though I was in Galicia visiting my friends and Family, a friend and I decided that we should go for a walk along the Camino. We selected the section Palas de Rei – Melide, because I really wanted to try the well-known Pulperia Ezequiel (Octopus specialist restaurant) of Melide, and now that I have tried it, I have to say that I understand why it is so famous.

The distance from  Palas de Rei to Melide is  15 Kms. My friend and I we are not the kind of people who exercise so much, and overall, our impression was that this section was really easy, and flat.

We walked in January, it was very cloudy and threatening with rain since we started walking but the clouds held it until the last Kilometers of walk. For this reason we have to say that we have been pretty lucky.

If I had to find a word to describe this section I would say: BEAUTIFUL.

We walked mainly through forests and some really tiny hamlets of around 10 houses. We saw cows, chickens and only 2 people.

When we arrived in Melide, we treated ourselves with a nice “Racion” of Galician Octopus. As a Galician person I have to say that it was probably the best Octopus I have ever had in my life!

In conclusion, if you want to have a break from your daily routine. If you want to do a different trip. If you want to know a Spain that not many people know, and if you want to eat the best food in the world: VISIT GALICIA, DO EL CAMINO DE SANTIAGO.
