There is still some Canadian pilgrim “caminando” the Way of Saint James. September is a good time to walk if you are looking to escape the heat of Summer and the crowds.
One clients and now friend, is walking 414 km km from France to Sahagun. She is sleeping tonight in Fromista. The walking day from Castrojeriz to Fromista is a highly rewarding walk that includes highlights like the San Martin Church and the Canal de Castilla.
– Canal de Castilla: It is one of the country’s few canals. Constructed during the last half of the 18th century and it was built to ease the wheat grain transport from Castile to the northern harbors and to other markets from there. The way along the dam is calm and unique.
– San Martin Church: It is worth to spend some time contemplating this romance construction full of weird statues, lions, snakes, mysterious faces carved in stone.
Tomorrow, she will walk 5 hours from Fromista to Carrion de los Condes.
