One of the most common questions we are asked – is it safe to walk the Camino de Santiago alone?
Yes it is. No te preocupes. Don’t worry. The Camino is a safe place.
Many, many people start each year on their own and find that they are not alone very quickly. You walk each day and many people walk at the same pace, you see these same people in the morning, at cafes along the way, and in the hotel at night. The conversations you will have with these people will be deeper, more open, and more honest than you normally have with people you had just met.
They went through the same path, the same day than you, the same weather, the same flowers…
Bear in mind however that you may start the road on your own, but you will soon end up as part of a loose group as they walk – this is one of the best parts of the Camino
Locals respect the Camino too
Many pilgrims told us that they have had people whistle and point the direction to go. Unsolicited help offered by total strangers. They seem to have a sense of shepherding the Peregrino flock on their way to Santiago.
The only problem that you will have on the Camino is to catch the Camino bug. The wish to be back to the Camino again.
