For many walkers, the first stage of the Camino
The highest percentage of pilgrims decide to begin in Sarria their journey to Santiago. The day is not as inferior for those pilgrims beginning their journey as for those who already have many kilometres behind them.
The route moves away from the road and enters the more rural Galicia, from one of the most beautiful carballeiras (oak woods) on the itinerary. This forest, close to Sarria, is renowned for being a enchanted forest.
Goblins, elves, trolls, gnomes, fairies and witches could live in a place like this. Pilgrims should take a break and rest close to one of the hundred year old oak tree of the “Enchanted Forest”
After the magic path, pilgrims will be passing a number of Romanesque remnants and several Jacobean enclaves, rustic walkways and an early medieval bridge.
The way can be also a gastronomic journey in which to enjoy the aromas and flavors of each town. After the walk….. enjoy your meal. Keep reading about where to eat in Sarria…
