The reasons for walking the Camino are as varied as the people who embark on the journey.  The Camino has attracted pilgrims for over 1000 years. It has grown in popularity thanks to the movie, “The Way” with Martin Sheen. Moreover, there is a purpose in walking the Camino for these students for gone are the carefree days of wild parties and loosing yourself in Europe.
The Camino gives you time to think and prepare yourself for your career.  You will meet people from all over the world and share their stories, their success, their failure and their hope in finding fulfillment in Life walking the Camino.
.
*** Woodbridge Va is a quiet and pleasant community about 32k south of Washington DC.
Most of the inhabitants there work at the Nation’s Capital where they commute to work every day. Before moving to British Columbia, Creative Travel was located at 18th and M in DC. The writer Joanta was amongst the many commuters doing just that.

In Santiago! !! Very  nice  feeling.  This is not the end  but the beginning of a new chapter in life.  The  Camino  has been much  easier  than  I have  expected.  Pleasant  surprise.  Thanks for all the  bookings.  San  Martin  is  simple,  perfect  location.  This is exactly  what  a pilgrim should  do.  Helen

Other than the Cathedral, the other must see in Santiago is the Market of Abastos located in the Old City.  Not just any market, the sight, the sound, the atmosphere of the many eateries and bars make the visit all the more rewarding especially after the long ordeal of completing the Camino.  The current Market was completed in 1941, it was rebuilt from the original market dating back to 1870.  It has always been the Place that the regional farmers, fish mongers, bakers and dairy farmers gather and exhibit their best produce, catch of the season, Galician bake goods, cheese and dairy products.  Over the years the Market has grown from being mainly a Farmers Market to become a good place for fine eateries especially for fresh catch of the Day seafood, farm raised meat, poultry and fine wine from the regions Pre roman wine producing wineries.  The distinctive feature of the Market is that you can select and purchase fresh seafood , meat or produce and take it to the many restaurants and bars on the premises or close by and they will prepare and cook it for you.  The Market is open Monday to Saturday from 0700 to 1500 hrs.  Thursdays and Saturdays are considered the best time to visit as those are the days that fresh deliveries are arriving and especially on Saturdays, the Market generally seemed livelier.

Cities with History in Spain

The city of La Coruña occupies a particularly contorted corner of the Galician coast. The centre sits on an isthmus straddled by the port on its southeast side and the main ocean beaches on the northwest. An irregularly shaped peninsula extends 2km north out to the city’s World Heritage-listed Roman lighthouse, the Torre de Hércules. The Paseo Marítimo, a wonderful 13km walkway and bike path, runs all the way from port, around the peninsula, along the ocean beaches and on out to the west.

GETTING TO SANTIAGO, WALK DON’T RUN

Walking the Camino allows you to spend time alone by yourself.  During the walk, you can think, be in touch with nature and also with the people from all over the world that share that same common interest.  To walk the Camino helps you to find and get to know yourself better. It is not a race, a true peregrino will not boost to others the least number of days that he or she can finish the walk in but rather the experience gained.   Completing the Camino from St. Jean to Santiago in 25 days or less is possible but not a PEREGRINO.

…. Our experience with the Camino exceeded our expectations. Creative travel went over and above to help our trip be memorable. You all took such care in providing us with everything we needed and your responses were always so prompt. The facilities we stayed in were good. I especially enjoyed the smaller villa’s in the rural areas. I loved Rua and Morgade the best….” Myra, May 2013, walking 110 km from Sarria to Santiago” “It was nice to read that a business such as yours is providing great service. I wish you continued success” Greg K., Consumer Protection BC, May 23, 2013
